Adjusting Intonation
Your Jayemar 6-, 7-, or 8-string guitar features a proprietary multi-scale bridge plate, co-designed by my good friend John Sonksen. They are milled out of aircraft aluminum or bell brass, and are mounted with Graph Tech Wilkinson-style saddles. Follow these instructions to adjust intonation (especially if you change string gauges). As always, if you are not comfortable making adjustments yourself, reach out to Jason for an appointment in the Portland Metro area, or recommendations for a guitar tech in your neighborhood.
5. With the 1.27mm hex wrench (smallest wrench in your tool kit), adjust the saddle intonation screw. In this example, since the fretted 12th pitch was sharp, the distance from the 12th fret to the saddle must be increased. Turn the saddle intonation screw clockwise a few turns.
If the fretted 12th pitch was flat, the distance from the 12th fret to the saddle must be decreased. In that case, turn the saddle intonation screw count-clockwise a few turns. |
