Order a Custom Line
Thank you for your interest in ordering a Custom Line guitar or bass! Let's get this process started.
First, a few things to consider...
If you are considering ordering an original guitar or bass, I trust that you understand and appreciate that I build a Jayemar guitar, not copies of popular designs. All instruments employ a multi-scale fretting arrangement, and I wind my own pickups for a truly custom instrument, from head to tail. Every detail has been meticulously considered to meet a functional, tonal, and aesthetic purpose, and I will not compromise on my design.
That being said, within certain parameters, scale lengths can be altered, nut widths adjusted, and neck profiles carved to suit your personal performance needs. As certain dimensions are critical to the comfort and playability of your instrument, it is important that you ask questions and clearly communicate your needs. If I see that your requests are a poor choice, or simply unreasonable (functionally, tonally, aesthetically), I will tell you and help you understand these reasons and come to a solution. Through this collaboration, I will make the best effort possible to fully understand your vision of the ordered instrument. In the end, however, by entering this contract you are agreeing to accept the instrument that is the creation of the documented features and options you have chosen.
Here's how it works:
I am excited to begin building your guitar! Thank you for entrusting me with the realization of your musical needs.

Here's how it works:
- When you order a guitar or bass, I will contact you (phone or in-person, if local) to discuss choices, discuss any alternate options you may desire, and total your final cost. If you wish to purchase the instrument, I will send you a PayPal invoice to make a deposit of 1/3 the total cost to start the project. If you have second thoughts within 5 business days, you may terminate and receive a full refund of the deposit. Depending on my current build capacity, I will schedule the construction timeline and give you an approximate completion date.
- Barring any issues in construction, project length is 150 days or fewer: wood can hold surprises (knots, cracks), power tools can cause damage (chips, tearing), life can be unpredictable (illness, injury), and I will notify you immediately if a component needs to be remade or time added. If you pull out of the project before completion, the down payment is non-refundable, unless I am able to complete the guitar and sell it within 12 months of your initial deposit. (It is in my best interest to sell an instrument and recoup my costs for parts and construction time, but I can't make any promises.)
- The 2/3 balance will be paid for delivery. Shipping to the continental US is included in the price of the instrument (split the difference for anything further).
- Within 15 days of delivery, if you find the guitar does not meet your expectations, we may discuss reasonable modifications to suit your needs. If you are still not satisfied, you may return the instrument (shipping is your responsibility) and receive a refund of the 2/3 balance, plus the final 1/3 if I am able to resell the instrument within 12 months of your return (again, it is in my best interest to do so, but I can't make any promises). The guitar must be returned in like-new condition: damage or modifications at your hand or any repairman/technician/luthier will void this return option and the warranty. *Please note exception.*
I am excited to begin building your guitar! Thank you for entrusting me with the realization of your musical needs.
